Writing Workshop Series: Reflections of the Ugly Self

In this workshop will focus on either the personal or the discursive essay after examining cultural standards of beauty in juxtaposition with ourselves. The question: What of your physical, emotional or other self-aspects do you find most objectionable and why? Hopefully, an analysis of the answer to that question and participant interactions will help produce provocative essays. We will utilize the multi-paragraph essay form and lean towards academic writing, even in the personal essay.  Leave with a refined draft of an essay in this active workshop session. You will receive a pre-assignment and arrive to the workshop with a product to discuss, share and revise. For personal essays, college and high school essays, essays for college applications, etc.
