About the event
A Community Writing Workshop for teens ages 13-18, with Charlie James Cote. Idea to Stage
Over five sessions, students meet virtually to explore the fundamentals of playwriting and craft their own original short lays. Beginning with generating original ideas, the course covers dramatic structure, characters, dialog, and the basic conventions of theatrical writing. Students will be introduced to concepts in dramaturgy and script analysis and have an opportunity to practice giving and receiving supportive artistic feedback. Students will come away from the course with an understanding of what makes a story inherently theatrical, a deepened appreciation for the new play development process, and an increased confidence in their creative voice, value, and abilities. No experience required, all enthusiastic storytellers are welcome.
